Douglas H. Kenyon collection, 1917-1919.

The Douglas Kenyon Collection contains correspondence between Douglas, his friends, and his family from 1917-1919. There are also letters home to parents from Houston and Theodore Kenyon, Douglas's cousins who also served in World War I, and Benjamin Franklin, Jr., a classmate of Douglas, and Charles Crane have correspondence to family members in this collection. Also included are a newspaper clipping, flying map, and newsletters regarding Douglas's classmates who also served.

Douglas Kenyon was a volunteer soldier during World War I and the son of a wealthy New York lawyer. When the war began he had just graduated from Princeton's law school. Failing to be commissioned in the infantry, Douglas joined the American Air Service and became part of America's earliest aerial combat effort.
